You will learn about this in the course:

Dangers of
radiation

By the end of this module, you will have basic knowledge in radiobiology. To understand the effect of X-rays on a human cell, we first need to know how the cell functions. We also delve deeper into the topic of radiation and pregnancy.

What is radiation and how is it generated

In this section, we look at how matter is built and how X-rays are actually generated. Here, we dive into basic knowledge about atoms and molecules. We use videos and lots of images, so that the material is presented in a varied way.

Protection
against radiation

We know what radiation is and what it can do in the human body. But how do we protect ourselves from radiation in practice? We cover protection for staff and protection for patients, such as what is the use of a lead apron now? We also cover what ALADA is and how it can be applied in practice.

Legislation
radiation protection

In this module, we briefly cover the directives in radiation protection. We describe what the Nuclear Energy Act and Basic Safety Standards Radiation Protection Decree (Bbs) entail and the most important points of the occupational guidelines.

Anatomy & terminology

In this module, we cover the anatomy of the teeth and how to recognise them on an x-ray image.

Setting technique & Quiz

In this section, we will cover the recording techniques of intraoral recordings and panoramic recordings. We will do this using clear images and sketches. This will be followed by a quiz covering the most common setting errors!

How does the course work?

Theory - fully online

You will have access to our online learning environment. This consists of video lessons, animations, quizzes and practical explanations. Study at your convenience.

Practice - in your own practice

You practice with the equipment you yourself use every day. You take different types of shots and the TMS in your practice signs off on the practice assignments.

Completion and certificate

When both the theory and your sign-off list are complete, you have a valid certificate. After 5 years, you must then retrain again.
